Invented in 1969 by the toy company Wham-O, renowned for iconic creations like the Hula Hoop, Frisbee, and Superball, Toy Clackers swiftly became a cultural phenomenon, with over 10 million units sold within the inaugural year.

However, safety concerns led to the eventual prohibition of the toy in numerous locations. Instances of plastic ball breakage resulting in potential harm to children prompted Wham-O to develop a safer alternative.
