In a Reddit post that has since been removed, a father shared a situation where his daughter faced repercussions at school for bullying a classmate who had lost her hair due to cancer treatment. The daughter not only ridiculed the girl but also removed her wig as part of the bullying. Seeing his daughter’s lack of remorse, the father decided to address the issue directly.
Although the girls had previous conflicts, the father emphasized that personal animosity doesn’t justify his daughter’s actions. They had reportedly been at odds due to the daughter dating the other girl’s ex-boyfriend, but this didn’t excuse her behavior. He expressed disappointment in his daughter’s conduct as reported by the school’s deputy principal.
Despite being confronted about her actions, the daughter showed no remorse and even defended her behavior, claiming the other girl deserved it. Faced with this defiance, the father felt compelled to take action.
He presented his daughter with two options. She could either dispose of all her electronic devices – phone, computer, etc. – and he would not buy her any more, or she could have her entire head shaved at the hairdresser’s. Furthermore, she would not be given a wig and would have to attend school without hair until it grew back. Ultimately, she chose the latter option.
The teen’s mother objected strongly, believing the father’s response was excessive and could make her daughter a target for further bullying. However, the father, who has full custody of his daughter due to his ex-wife’s new family situation, did not consult her in the decision-making process.
Despite criticism from others, the father stands by his decision. He believes the punishment was warranted due to his daughter’s lack of empathy towards the bullied girl. He hoped that experiencing the consequences firsthand would teach her a valuable lesson in empathy and understanding.
