A sign displayed on the front window of a Dairy Queen restaurant in Kewaskum, Wisconsin, has stirred up discussion online. The billboard prominently features traditional holiday greetings such as “Merry Christmas” and “Happy Easter,” along with expressions of gratitude to veterans on Veterans Day.
The owner of the restaurant, Kevin Scheunemann, stands by the sign, explaining that it was put up almost four years ago to openly reflect his and his staff’s dedication to serving God and country. Originally erected in response to a customer complaint about Christian music in the restaurant, the sign hasn’t caused any further issues since then.
The sign garnered fresh attention when an Oregon tourist shared a photo of it on Facebook, sparking a debate about its inclusivity. While some people show support for the message, others criticize the sharing of the image. Local business owners back Scheunemann’s decision, stating that customers are free to leave if they disagree.
Dairy Queen clarifies that Scheunemann’s approach doesn’t reflect its official stance and emphasizes the importance of treating all customers with respect, regardless of their religious beliefs.
