Michelle Resendez shared a heartwarming tale on Facebook about her teenage son’s act of kindness during his shift, which led to a generous tip from a diner.
According to the post, Matthew Resendez was working at Burger King when a homeless man entered and handed him 50 cents, asking what he could afford from the menu.
Moved by the man’s plight, Matthew inquired about his ideal meal without cost constraints. The man expressed that anything would suffice.
Matthew proceeded to order a substantial meal and paid for it with his own debit card. He then handed the man the receipt and invited him to relax in a seat.
“The story could end there, and it would be a happy ending,” Resendez’s post stated.
However, a woman in the restaurant witnessed the exchange and later contacted the company to commend Matthew’s actions. She also left him a $100 tip.
“I am so proud to be his mom, knowing that I’ve played a part in raising this compassionate young man,” Resendez wrote.
The post received 40,000 shares and over 147,000 likes, with numerous individuals applauding Matthew for his kindness.
“So nice and so kind of him. You raised a beautiful person; we need more young men like him in our world. You are blessed,” one person commented.
A second wrote: “Truly an amazing story. Thanks for doing the right thing, Matt.”
