Woman Killed In Head-On Crash, But What Was Found On Her Facebook Page Left Everyone Shocked

Tragic Highway Crash Linked to Facebook Post

Authorities have reported that a woman tragically died in a head-on collision on a U.S. highway shortly after updating her Facebook status and posting selfies.

Courtney Sanford, 32, updated her Facebook page at 8:33 a.m. on a Thursday morning with the message: “The happy song makes me so HAPPY.” A minute later, at 8:34 a.m., the police received a report about the crash.

According to the police, Sanford was driving alone on Interstate 85 in North Carolina when her car crossed the center line, struck a recycling truck, and caught fire, which caused the truck to veer off the road.

The authorities have stated that there is no evidence to suggest that her speed, or the use of drugs or alcohol, played a role in the accident.

The Facebook post was not brought to the public’s attention until the weekend, when Sanford’s friends notified the police that her social media updates appeared to have been made around the time of the crash.

Lt. Chris Weisner of the High Point Police Department described the incident as a real-life public service announcement about the dangers of texting and driving. Lt. Weisner mentioned that Sanford was taking selfies while driving, in addition to the status update she made shortly before the accident.

“This tragedy highlights the importance of paying attention while driving,” Lt. Weisner remarked. “It’s a somber reminder of how quickly things can go wrong for the sake of a social media post.”

John Wallace Thompson, 73, who was driving the truck, was reported to be unharmed in the collision.
