Woman Who Adopted Baby Boy Sees Her Life Transformed After His 27-Year-Old Blood Test Results

Note: This story, originally reported in May 2014, is being republished for Mother’s Day.

In a touching Mother’s Day story from Arizona, a foster mother received a life-saving kidney from her adopted son. Ingeborg McIntosh, who has devoted her life to fostering over 120 children, faced a severe health issue due to polycystic kidney disease. Her adopted son, Jordan, stepped forward to become her living kidney donor.

Last summer, as Ingeborg faced the reality of needing a kidney transplant, Jordan decided to be tested to see if he could donate one of his kidneys. On Mother’s Day, he revealed to her that he was a perfect match and was ready to offer her this precious gift.

Jordan, overwhelmed with love and gratitude, shared his feelings, saying, “I felt this was my purpose. I hope to do more for her as I grow older, but for now, this is the least I could do.” His words reflected his deep appreciation for Ingeborg, who had cared for him since he was a child.

Ingeborg reminisced about the moment she first met Jordan, describing it as “love at first sight.” Despite the initial challenges, including the desire for Jordan to be placed in a home with an African American or biracial family, Ingeborg embraced him, and he was officially adopted at the age of four.

Now an adult, Jordan’s decision to become a kidney donor for his mother highlighted their strong bond. Ingeborg expressed her gratitude, saying, “I couldn’t ask for a better son. You took me in, and now I want to do this for you,” underscoring their mutual love and commitment.

The surgery was successfully performed last month, inspiring others who face similar health battles. Jordan’s story serves as a testament to the power of kindness and how small acts of love can have a profound effect.

To help with medical expenses, the McIntosh family has established the McIntosh Benefit Donation Fund at Wells Fargo. This heartwarming story reminds us of the incredible impact of love, generosity, and community support during times of hardship.
