A Facebook post gained widespread attention after David J. Hill shared an unusual experience he had at a restaurant in Texas.
Hill had gone out with friends to a local eatery and enjoyed their time together. However, the situation took an unexpected turn when it was time to pay the bill.
Hill recounted on Facebook: “I had a $20 bill in my wallet with ‘Trump Lives Here’ written on it in permanent marker. When I tried to pay, the cashier told me they couldn’t accept it because it was defaced. I was shocked and asked if they were serious. The cashier insisted I needed to use another form of payment, like a credit card.”
Hill explained that he only had the $20 bill, and the cashier then told him to get more money from an ATM.
The situation escalated when the police arrived to help resolve the issue. Despite their intervention, the cashier continued to refuse the bill.
The cashier reportedly said, “This man is trying to use defaced currency, and I’m not accepting it.”
The police officers examined the bill and stated that there was no reason not to accept it. They advised the cashier, “There are many bills with writing on them, and this is still valid currency. Please accept it and give the man his change.”
Despite this, the cashier allegedly continued to refuse the bill, stating his disdain for anything associated with Trump and his refusal to recognize Trump as his president.
After hearing the cashier’s objections, the police told him, “Either accept the money and give the man his change, or his meal will be free today because he’s trying to pay for it.”
In the end, the cashier reportedly chose to give Hill and his friends a free meal.
