McDonald’s Employee Refuses Service To Officer, Manager Responds Perfectly

McDonald’s is investigating an incident involving one of its Virginia locations, where an employee allegedly refused service to a police officer in uniform.

According to reports from the Daily Mail, Cathy Naff has claimed that a McDonald’s staff member refused to serve her husband, Scott Naff, who had just completed a 13-hour shift.

Cathy shared the details on Facebook:

“My husband came home after working a long shift and had a troubling story to tell. This evening, around 7:00, he stopped by the McDonald’s on Parham Road and Route 1 while still in uniform and driving his police car. He paid for his food and moved forward to the next window.

The employee at that window looked at him, stepped back, and mouthed something my husband couldn’t hear due to the closed window. When the employee finally opened the window, he told my husband, ‘I ain’t serving no police,’ and shut the window. The worker informed everyone in the restaurant, including the manager, of his refusal to serve police officers. The employees appeared uncertain about what to do, as my husband had already paid for his food but was not given it.

Eventually, someone brought the food to my husband in silence. As he drove away, a patron who witnessed the event approached him and expressed astonishment. The patron revealed that the employee had told the manager that he would not serve police officers, regardless of the consequences. The manager did not intervene, and someone else eventually delivered the food to my husband.

It’s astonishing that such behavior is allowed, and even more surprising that the manager did nothing to address it. We will never return to that McDonald’s. This experience highlights the daily challenges faced by those who protect and serve us. Please keep our law enforcement officers in your thoughts and prayers.”

The story gained significant attention on social media, leading McDonald’s to respond with a statement:

“At our restaurants, we are committed to serving all our customers, including the police officers who protect and serve our communities,” McDonald’s stated, according to Blue Lives Matter. “We are thoroughly investigating this matter and will take appropriate actions.”

Cathy Naff later provided an update on the situation:

“After the incident, my husband filed a complaint with corporate. He received a standard response thanking him for his feedback. We then contacted the franchise owner, who promised to investigate. We were later informed that the employee was terminated, but the manager claimed to be unaware of the situation. The franchise owner assured us that they would investigate further.

My husband is one of the most patient and composed people I know, and this incident should never have happened. We’ve heard similar complaints about this location from others. It’s unacceptable for McDonald’s to question the validity of this story. We appreciate the support from everyone, not just for my husband but for all law enforcement officers. Everyone deserves to be treated with respect, regardless of their uniform.”
