Note: We are revisiting a story that initially gained attention in December 2014.
A woman in Southern California expressed shock upon discovering wrapping paper with a pattern resembling a swastika at a Walgreens store, prompting a response from the company.
Cheryl Shapiro was shopping with her grandson when she noticed a geometric design on the wrapping paper that she found disturbing. Concerned by its resemblance to a swastika, she immediately notified a store employee and decided to escalate the issue to Walgreens’ corporate headquarters.
“I insisted that this wrapping paper be removed from all stores, not just the one I visited,” Shapiro told a local news outlet. “I was determined to take action because I was deeply upset by what I saw.”
Shapiro mentioned that other customers shared her concern over the pattern on the wrapping paper.
In response, a spokesperson for Walgreens stated that the company is currently investigating the matter. Reports indicated that the same wrapping paper was also available at another Walgreens store nearby.
