Widow of Corey Comperatore Reflects on Call from Donald Trump After Tragic Shooting at Pennsylvania Rally
Helen Comperatore, the widow of Corey Comperatore who was tragically killed during a Trump rally in Pennsylvania, has recently shared details of her phone conversation with former President Donald Trump. The shocking incident occurred when 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks fired a weapon at the Republican presidential candidate, President Donald Trump. While Trump narrowly escaped serious harm, the attack resulted in the death of one rally attendee and left two others with significant injuries.
Corey Comperatore, a 50-year-old volunteer fire chief from Sarver, Pennsylvania, sacrificed his life to shield his family during the shooting. His daughter, Allyson, took to social media to honor her father’s bravery, expressing heartfelt thanks for his selfless actions. She described Corey’s act of heroism as him taking a “real bullet” for his loved ones.
In a recent Facebook post, Helen Comperatore revealed that Donald Trump personally called her after the incident. “He was very kind and said he would stay in touch with me in the coming days and weeks,” Helen recounted. She also conveyed her belief that her husband’s death was not in vain, affirming his heroism with the words, “He left this world a hero and God welcomed him in.”
Helen also shared that she chose not to speak with President Joe Biden following her husband’s death. “I didn’t talk to Biden,” she said, noting that her husband was a staunch Republican and would likely not have wanted her to engage with the current president.
Despite her personal support for Trump, Helen does not harbor resentment towards President Biden. She places the blame for her husband’s death on the young shooter rather than on political figures. “He didn’t do anything bad to my husband. A 20-year-old despicable kid did,” she remarked.
The Comperatore family had attended the Trump rally as a show of support for the former president. Corey’s final words reportedly were “Get down,” as he valiantly protected his family from the gunfire.
In response to the tragedy, President Joe Biden offered his condolences from the White House, acknowledging Corey Comperatore’s sacrifice. He stated, “He was protecting his family from the bullets that were being fired, and he lost his life. God love him.“
