A woman’s effort to evaluate her date’s generosity took an unexpected turn when her plan went awry. In a bold move, she decided to bring 23 family members to their blind date, intending to test her date’s willingness to accommodate. However, the outcome was far from what she expected.
The Unsuccessful Blind Date Test
The woman’s plan, though daring, was poorly thought out. Her date, Mr. Lui, had intended to impress Miss Zhang by treating her and her relatives at one of his favorite restaurants. However, he was surprised to find himself faced not only with her but also her entire extended family of 23 members. Unsurprisingly, Mr. Lui was reluctant to cover the bill for such a large group, resulting in an awkward situation.
The Setting
This uncomfortable encounter took place at a restaurant in the eastern Chinese province of Zhejiang, according to local news source Taizhou Evening News. The woman’s aim, albeit dubious, was to test Mr. Lui’s willingness to share and support her family. Yet, her approach, especially on a blind date, was less than ideal.
The Costly Outcome
As the dinner continued, it became clear that Mr. Lui was not willing to partake in the woman’s test of generosity. Instead of taking on the financial burden, he abruptly left, leaving the woman to handle the substantial bill of 20,000 yuan (about $3,100) on her own.
A Legal Dispute
Following the failed date, Zhang took legal action against Mr. Lui. The court ruled that Mr. Lui should contribute only 1,400 yuan toward the bill.
A Lesson in Communication
In retrospect, the woman’s attempt to test her date’s generosity proved not only unsuccessful but also expensive. Despite her initial intentions, the method she chose to gauge Mr. Lui’s character did not work out as planned. This story serves as a reminder that open communication and honesty are essential in relationships, rather than testing someone’s character in such elaborate ways.
